If you are interested in donating panties for Days for Girls, Carolyn has advised that panties in plain white are fine – but must be all cotton. She will dye them as needed. The sizes they need are girls 8-14 or women’s size XS or S.
Also in demand are Ziploc 1L bags. They must be Ziploc brand as they have found they hold up the best.
Carolyn sends her thanks for our continued support. We have about a dozen bags completed and will invite her back again when there are enough to make her trip worthwhile.
Special request for the 2017 spring issue of Canadian Quilter magazine!
The theme of the magazine is: Do you Guild? Deadline for submissions is December 15, 2016.
This is an invitation to all quilt guild members to write a 400 to 1,000 word article about a guild experience you would like to share with Canadian Quilter readers. The article could be about any of the following… or perhaps you have an idea of your own!
• Why do you belong to a guild?
• What kind of activities does your guild participate in?
• Has your guild reached a special milestone?
• Do you have a special story about one of your guild members? Perhaps he/she taught you something new, or contributes above and beyond and deserves to be recognized.
Photos are welcome and add visual interest to any article. Please send a photo of yourself (optional) and/or photos relevant to your article. Please send original photos from your camera or phone… no editing necessary. If you understand photo re-sizing, we need 300 dpi, at least 6” wide or 72 dpi, at least 25” wide.
Let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing from members across Canada!

On Saturday November 12 we hosted a Sit n Sew. 12 members attended and worked on their own projects and slab blocks for the CQA Quilting Bee, in support of Ronald McDonald House.
Enough blocks were made to complete one large quilt top and several more blocks for a second quilt. Members enjoyed dedicated sewing time, chatting and snacks.
Our March Meeting has been rescheduled to March 8 at Knox Presbyterian Church in Alliston. The address is 160 King Street South, Alliston. The time is the same 7 PM.
We will be having Carolyn from Days for Girls, elections, membership renewals are due, the $100.00 UFO draw as well as all the usual things.
Looking forward to seeing you all then!

As we don’t have a regular guild meeting in January, we wanted to let our members know about two upcoming bus trips. Our guild is planning a shop hop bus trip for Saturday, June 4, 2016 which we hope to offer at a very good price for our guild members. Details will follow at the February and March meetings.
We are also pleased to let our members know that Payge Morris from Kempenfelt Guild is finalizing plans for a bus trip to the Quilt Canada Show at the International Centre next June. (Some of you may have met Payge on our last guild bus trip).
Here are the details:
Date: Friday, June 17, 2016
Cost: $ 42 – includes bus fare AND show admission
Times: Leaves Barrie at 8:30am (departure location in Barrie to be confirmed), returns from Toronto at 3:30pm
Contact: Payge Morris (email@example.com)
Deadline: January 10, 2016
As the guild doesn’t meet in January, we are asking you to contact Payge directly. Your seat will not be confirmed until your payment is received by Payge. She is hoping to book the larger bus for the trip, but must have enough confirmed attendees by the January deadline in order to do so.
Have a look at the updated link for Canadian Quilters’ Association:
Becky Goldsmith (of Piece o’ Cake Designs) was recently a guest on The Quilt Show.com hosted by Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims and presented an excellent discussion on colour theory. Alex also presented a free pattern for a three hour quilt top. The episode is only free to non-members until August 23.
Check it out…
