President’s Message – January 2017

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone.

Hope you are all rested from these busy times. We have had a successful year in the Guild with our presentations, Demos, quilt school and guild challenges. With everyone’s help we have been able to send out a large quantity of quilts into the community through My Sister’s Place and Matthew’s House. We can be proud of our involvement with our Outreach projects. We have seen a variety of quilts and learnt a variety of techniques through our demos.

We have a great year ahead of us in the Guild and it should be fun and interesting. This is the year of our Quilt Show which is a busy time for all of us. It is a time to showcase the work we have done over the last two years. All of our members have created, contributed or learnt many thing and we will present them to the world this June. Please take the time to think about what contribution you will make to the show. It is our major fundraiser so that we can have presenters and activities over the next two years. Your contribution will ensure that we have a successful show.

We have a number of presenters booked for the coming year. Ruth Kennedy will present her quilt journey and discuss curved piecing. Lorna McMahon will bring us new patterns to explore and purchase as well a present her quilts. Dorthy Fu has a number of quilts with whimsical animals and thread work she will show us.

Just a reminder of the month things are due:

Thank you for your support over the last year. I could not have done it without our great program committee and the executive. They make the job easier.

Have a great year.

President’s Message – June, 2016

Looks like the beautiful summer weather is with us finally. I know everyone is busily planting and doing spring clean up and the yards will look lovely. This gives us plenty of time to sit outside and work on our hand quilting work. What a great setting!

Just a quick reminder that Grantham Books is coming to our June meeting and he has a lovely array of books to sell. He will be setting up until the start of the meeting but feel free to take a book to your seat to look at while we start the meeting. He has confirmed that he will take credit cards, cash and cheques and his prices are very reasonable. Please spread the word and bring a friend.

We will be having a short meeting with our 4th row for our row quilt so bring your blocks. They are looking wonderful so far. We will be missing July so it will give you time to catch up if need be. The 5th row will be done in August.

The program committee has been hard at work planning for the coming year. We have a few surprises coming up so stay tuned. Remember that you can participate in anything or everything but there is no pressure to do it all. We try to provide something for everyone and our guild is becoming very diversified with new quilter up to master quilters. It is a challenge to provide the wide range of activities but we should all have fun.

The Pres

President’s Message – May 2016

I hope everyone enjoyed our April meeting. With a catered snack and 10th Anniversary pins, we all had lots of surprises. We had 53 members attend the festivities and each received a beautiful pin for their Anniversary gift. For members who were not able to attend, contact an executive member to collect your surprise. It was great to see all of our former presidents who received a beautiful Quilt Diva pin for their contributions to the guild. It was so wonderful to see so many of our former members present for our celebration.

As we enter out 11th year of operations, the executive is attempting to plan more creative and interesting events over the course of this special year. Hopefully you will approve as we progress. We have made arrangements for Grantham Books to come to our June meeting to sell his great collection of books. Come prepared to purchase something to help your future quilting. There are a lot of new and interesting ideas we still have not tried. Bring your friends and enjoy the evening of reviewing new ideas.

Your president,

Judy Cotter
