Quilting Corners Guild – Show Highlights

Carl Schueler is the Winner! In June, Quilting Corners Guild in Alliston, Ontario  presented their very successful quilt show, Stitching Among Friends 2013. Show highlights included over 100 quilts on display, a merchants’ mall, demonstrations, a tea room, and a unique bed and cradle turning, featuring a collection of miniature quilts. Congratulations to Viewer’s Choice Award winner, Carl Schueler. His bed runner, which he machine pieced and long-arm quilted is from Judy Niemeyer’s Double Wedding Ring pattern, and measures approximately 30 X 104″.

Quilt Show 2013 a Success!

Congratulations to Judy C., all the committee heads and the legion of volunteers for presenting our best quilt show to date ! How wonderful to see such generosity and camaraderie amongst our members. From the initial organizational meetings, to members who promoted the show or entered their finest quilts, others who provided equipment, demonstrations, special quilts for the bed/cradle turning or extra quilts, other decorations or food donations, members who sewed Penny Raffle items or who worked on the raffle quilt, and even more who took time off of work or devoted their weekend to serve at the show. What a group effort. The feedback we have received has been nothing short of glowing. Visitors and vendors alike were greatly pleased with the beautiful venue, friendly atmosphere, welcoming tea room, and of course the stunning display of quilts. I was especially impressed to see so many smiling guild member faces. Every one seemed so pleased and proud to be part of the show. At every turn there were members willing to pitch in wherever help was needed and many volunteers were willing to stay an extra hour or two or happily switch a volunteer position as needed. Also important are the preliminary reports from Eleanor showing a financial success as well. Attendance was up significantly as was traffic thru the tea room. Congratulations also to our award winners:
