April Sit n Sew

April Sit n Sew had the best attendance yet!
Another successful Sit n Sew for Community Outreach. Twenty-four gals, many regulars and happily several first timers, joined the day to create kids quilts, a few pillow cases and a Quilt of Valour.  Thank you to Donna, Cheryl and the many hands who looked after set up, tidy up and kit distribution. Sadly I was unable to attend, but I am looking forward to the next outreach day on May 30th.

Guild Raffle Draw Winners

QCG launched their bi-annual quilt raffle at our quilt show in June. We wrapped it up last evening with the draw for each quilt.  Congratulations to Sally B, winning the beautiful sampler quilt, created and donated by Arlene G. Also, congratulations to Jean T, winning the lovely red, black and white quilt created by a group of guild members. Warm thoughts and thank you to all who participated in the creation of the quilts, selling and buying of tickets, and of course our fortunate winners.

Sit n Sew- Oct 2025

Well our fourth and final guild sew day of 2025 is all done. 21 members came together to sew, chat and enjoy eachothers company on behalf of our community outreach program. Our focus was quilted Christmas stockings and pillow cases.  We did an awesome job creating 43 stockings and 9 pillow cases, with many more in progress that went home for completion. Thank you to all of the participants for their ongoing time and dedication to outreach, and of course the snacks and laughs.

Guild Challenge

Another very busy guild evening for QCG last evening. One of our activities was the reveal for our Panel Challenge, in which members demonstrated their creativity using a panel kit.  Members and guests had the opportunity to select their favorite of the 14 quilts on display. Congratulations went to Sally, Joanne and Dianne for their panel success, with Dianne capturing the first place ribbon. All of the panel quilts will be completed and donated to our community partners. Thank you to Tammy and Janice for initiating the challenge, and to all of the participants who took on the challenge.

Summer Sit ‘n Sew

Another successful Sit n Sew for Quilting Corners Guild. 21 gals arrived armed with their machines and enthusiasm ready to sew. 13 quilt tops completed, along with several in progress that went home with the stitchers. Also 24 pillow cases were done. A couple of gals worked on stuffing and completing the heart pillows and knot bags for mastectomy kits, as we complete our commitment for this project. Lots of laughs and snacks to fill the day. Thank you to all of our participants from start to finish.

Quilts of Valour Donation

On June 4th Quilting Corners Guild presented 18 quilts to Quilts of Valour – Canada. The quilts are a labour of love and creativity made by members of QCG and volunteers who attend the sew days hosted by our local quilt shop, Country Concessions.  Our regional rep, Elizabeth, was there to receive the quilts which will then be presented to Canadian Armed Forces members, ill or injured, past and present. A sincere thank you goes out to our guild members, friends of the guild and Cynthia, of Country Concessions, for all the many hands, hours and contributions provided to make this special donation possible.

Road trip anyone?

Yesterday was Quilting Corners Guild’s first bus trip in a few years.  What a success! 42 happy travelers enjoyed 2 quilt shops and a lovely quilt show, snacks, friendship and of course shopping!  A great big thank you to Cheryl for initiating, organizing and hosting the trip and coordinating with Donna on the bus, games, welcome bundles and prizes. Thanks also goes out to members who contributed our many prizes and Banting Memorial HS Hospitality for our snacks. It was lots of fun all around.
